A beautifully orchestrated piece with a level of physical precision rarely found in theatre... I left appreciating the artistry of this quartet - not a single moment is uncared for.

PERFORMANCE

TECHNIQUE

A workshop based in Lecoq Technique on physical performance designed to increase the sensitivity, physical skill, and observational capactiy of performers.

How can we stretch and grow the limitations of our bodies? How do we communicate to an audience the vastness of a wilderness without the support of a set? How can we shrink our theatrical perspective and scale to the microscopic?

This workshop invites students to discover and perform using their poetic body. Over the duration of our class, students will ignite and awaken our physical curiosity, breathe fresh new life into our bodies, and create spaces and objects where once there was nothing. Students will be exploring the relationship between breath and tension, and how that gives life to new sensations as they are introduced to fundamentals of the Lecoq pedagogy.

DEVISING

A workshop on creating original work including tools for generating material, ensemble collaboration skills, and gathering dramaturgy.

How can we ignite an entire creative process from a single question or curiosity? Do bugs feel love?  Is there a ballet to be found within the everyday quotidian rituals of taking out the trash?  If forgiveness were a monster, what would it look like?

In this workshop, students learn tools for devising and creating collaboratively.  They practice pulling creative material from anywhere and everywhere, gathering resources to feed a creative process, and translating the non-theatrical into embodied creative material.  We pair facilitated discussion with on-your-feet experiential learning to explore the curiosities that arise in the room. Throughout the workshop, we role-model and reinforce how to improvise and collaborate with awareness of and generosity towards others.
